Hotel and Lodge Website Design in Tanzania

We build websites for hotels, lodges and camps across Tanzania that want a larger share of their bookings to come direct, rather than through platforms that take a cut of every guest.

The commission problem

Online travel agents brought you distribution, and for a new property that is genuinely valuable. But the arrangement has a cost that compounds. Every booking that arrives through a platform carries a commission, and that commission is charged forever, including on guests who would have found you anyway and on returning guests who already know your name.

The uncomfortable part is that most travellers who book through a platform have already visited your own website. They looked you up, read about the property, then went back to the platform to book because that was where booking felt easier and safer. You paid commission on a guest you had already convinced.

Closing that gap is what this work is about. Not leaving the platforms, which would be poor advice, but making your own site good enough that the guest who is already looking at it has no reason to leave.

What makes a guest book direct

  • Clarity about the room. Real photographs of the actual room type, the actual bathroom, the actual view. Not one flattering shot reused across every category.
  • A reason that is not price. You often cannot undercut the platform on rate. You can offer a late checkout, an airport transfer, a bush breakfast or a free upgrade. State it plainly on the page.
  • Booking that does not feel risky. Clear cancellation terms, a confirmation that arrives immediately, and a recognisable payment step. Trust breaks at the payment screen more often than anywhere else.
  • Answers to practical questions. Distance from the gate, road conditions, what the drive actually takes, power and wifi, whether children are welcome, what the food is like.
  • Speed. Your guest is comparing you against a platform that has spent years optimising load time. A slow lodge site loses that comparison before the content is even read.

Availability and enquiry

Not every property needs a live booking engine, and we will say so if yours does not. A small camp taking twenty bookings a month is often better served by a well-built enquiry system with fast, personal replies than by an availability calendar that has to be kept synchronised across four channels.

Where live availability does make sense, we integrate it properly and make sure your channel manager stays authoritative, so the site never sells a room you no longer have. Where it does not, we build structured enquiry systems that capture dates, guest numbers and room preference up front so your first reply can be an actual offer.

Written for the guest, structured for search

Travellers search for accommodation the way they think about a trip: by park, by proximity, by trip type, by season. “Lodge near Ngorongoro gate,” “tented camp Serengeti with family rooms,” “hotel Arusha near airport.” A site built only of Home, Rooms, Gallery and Contact cannot answer any of those.

We build the page structure around the way guests actually search, then write each page to answer one of those questions completely. That structure is also what our SEO work builds on afterwards.

Photography and load time

Accommodation sells on images, and lodge photography deserves to be shown well. It also weighs more than any other part of the site. We serve modern image formats at the right size for each device, load below-the-fold galleries only when needed, and keep the first view fast even on a poor connection. You upload the photographs you have; the site handles the rest.

What it costs and how long it takes

A property website with proper room pages and a structured enquiry system typically takes four to eight weeks. Integrating live availability or a channel manager adds to that, depending on the system you already use.

Price is fixed and quoted after one conversation, once we know how many room types you have, whether you need live booking, and what photography exists. You own the domain, the hosting and the site at handover.
